New AC means Dad – and house – cool again Dear Greg: I have a warranty with American Home Shield. On Aug. 18 my AC went out and AHS dispatched a repairman who refilled my Freon. Two days later the AC went out again. The same repairman came out and said the evaporator coil was bad and he would have to get approval from AHS and place the order for a new one. The repair company later informed me that it would be five days until the part came in. To make a long story not as long, it's Sept. 3 and still no part. AHS now tells me the part will not arrive until after Oct. 1. That's nearly two months with no AC in 95-degree temperature. At what point do we get to ridiculous? The warranty states that if AHS cannot fix it they will replace it. I feel they cannot fix it. At what point should I worry about mold? We are a household of two adults and four teenagers. Please help – we are hot and bothered!
